
Joyce Gilbreth, the original founder, opened Joyce痴 Seafood & Steaks in 1997 in order to accomplish a lifelong dream of opening a restaurant in her retirement years. With the assistance of Francisco Ruiz and Luis Pesquera her dream was realized. Through their combined commitment to quality innovative food, genuinely friendly service, and involvement in the community, the goal of creating a uniquely special restaurant is being achieved on a daily basis. The understanding that they are only as good as their last dish keeps the Joyce痴 team continuing to strive for perfection.
Joyce痴 Seafood and Steaks has become a favorite neighborhood restaurant serving the area for over 13 years. This independent restaurant locally owned by Francisco Ruiz has developed a cult like following that has come to expect the freshest gulf seafood served in a genuinely hospitable environment. The setting was created to be unpretentious in order to provide a comfortable atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. Francisco is known for his personal attention to each guest as he invites you to this special hidden treasure of a restaurant.
The restaurant has proven itself over the years as a special place that is truly one of a kind. Joyce痴 has received several accolades from international magazines such as Saveur Magazine from New York City to more local awards from Texas Monthly, Houston Chronicle and Houston Press. Saveur Magazine named Joyce痴 famous Lobster & Shrimp Enchiladas as one of the best items of the year. Joyce痴 home made Key Lime Pie was voted best in the city by the Houston Chronicle. Houston Press awarded the restaurant with having the best Raw Oysters in the city. Although the recognition is wonderful to have, what really makes Francisco Ruiz proud is his restaurant痴 commitment to making everything in house from scratch with the freshest of ingredients available.
