Gabe Gelb’s of the Houston Chronicle’s Critics Picks says his favorite entrée at Joyce’s Seafood and Steaks is an off-the-menu broiled flounder.
“But the highlight of lunch or dinner is the airy bread pudding, made with white chocolate and Jack Daniel’s. For a dessert aficionado, it’s incomparable."

Houston Magazine says this of Joyce’s Seafood and Steaks…”Joyce’s Seafood and Steaks is tucked away behind the Whataburger on Winrock. You’ve probably passed iit a million times and never noticed it. It’s one of those secret places that locals like to keep hidden and to themselves. Owner Francisco Ruiz has quietly transformed a fried oyster house into one of the best seafood places in the city. It’s also an awfully romantic place. Ask to be seated in one of the side booths, snuggle close and enjoy their fabulous dishes. Start off with the mussels that have been steamed in a white wine sauce. You’ll receive a heaping plate of freshly steamed mussels swimming in a cheesy cream sauce. The staff understands the importance of dipping material since they constantly refill your bread dish. A popular entrée is the lobster and shrimp enchiladas, a dish that was created one evening long ago because too many lobsters were accidentally delivered to the restaurant. The dish has gone on to become a signature special that never leaves the menu. And for dessert, Joyce’s has one of the best Key Lime pies. It’s tart with a thick graham cracker crust and it’s a perfect ending to a delightful meal.”

The Houston Chronicle’s Alan Truex labels Joyce’s Seafood and Steaks “a pearl of a seafood place.”

Saveur Magazine lists Joyce's Seafood and Steak's Lobster and Shrimp Enchiladas #20 in The Saveur 100 favorite Foods, Restaurants, Recipes, People, Places and Things.

Rob Wash of the Houston Press stated, "Joyce's Seafood and Steaks is one of the Best Seafood Restaurants in the city. As well as a wonderfully relaxing place."
